news actress gallery I Understand That Smoking is Addictive

Being a non-smoker, I am naturally against the habit in all its forms. I hate the smell, the look, the feel and the attitude of smoking and smokers.

But, I'm not all that bad. Underneath it all I have a soft spot for smokers - I understand that they are (in many cases) hopelessly addicted.

!
Take me, for example. I love biscuits! I can eat them all day, every day. And in all forms and varieties - plain, sugar-coated, chocolate covered. I eat them "as is" or dunked in tea or coffee.

I love them!

Put a packet of biscuits in front of me, turn your back for a short while, and I guarantee that at least half will be gone. I am ADDICTED to biscuits.

Now, transpose that into the life of the smoker. He (or, increasingly, she) is addicted to smoking. Addicted to the "rush". Addicted to the feel. And addicted to the social pleasures that cigarette smoking, inexplicably, brings.

I honestly feel sorry for smokers. They cannot get through ! the day without their fix. And another fix. Yes, and another. How sad for them.

And, how sad for us non-smokers too. Their habit so often becomes mine, as I breathe in their smoke, congest my lungs and injure my heart. My social life is affected too - but in my case, adversely.

Of course, I am not truly addicted to biscuits (although, truly, I do love them). But I get a "need" when a plate of biscuits are in front of me. The "need" for smokers is far greater, and not so easily ignored.

But what a life for them all, as they go from day to day manacled to this expensive, annoying and dangerous habit.
